Hello everyone!

Here’s the podcast of Saturday’s edition of The Doorway, broadcast over the airwaves on Saturday evening on 103 The Eye, here in the UK.

There is a real nod towards Pink Floyd in this week’s show with 2 hours of music bookended between two classic Floyd tracks! I hope you are all enjoying the slight change of format for the Doorway. I’m still playing the usual mix of old and new, but mixing it up across the Show rather than playing most of the old stuff at the start.

This week’s show is jam packed with proggy goodness and kicks off with a bit of a tribute to Peter Hammill; takes a look at RPWL who’ve just been announced for Night of The Prog in July; takes a trip to Lancashire and rounds off with an amazing track by IQ.

Have a great week!

Happy Monday Folks!

This week saw the really sad announcement of the death of drumming legend, Neil Peart from Rush. Our thoughts go out to his friends and loved ones. He was one of the most influential and inspirational musicians of our time and his legacy reaches far wider than the Prog Community and out into the world of rock generally.

Ask any of the best drummers around at the moment; the likes of Mike Portnoy, Gavin Harrison, and Danny Carey who was one of their greatest inspirations and you’ll get the same answer.

He’ll be missed.

The announcement came too late for the show broadcast on 103 The Eye on Saturday so there is no mention in the this week’s podcast. You can rest assured that there will be a full tribute in next week’s show.

As for this week, the show kicks off with a Soft Machine sequence, has tributes to David Bowie and Chris Squire, and ends with a Neal Morse “Alone/Together” feature amongst a whole host of other goodies.

Lots to enjoy!

Have a great week.

Ian

Setlist: A Certain Kind – Soft Machine; Town Feeling – Kevin Ayres; Selene – Gong; High Aflame – Knifeworld; Glass Staircase – Ed Wynn; Hearts – Yes; Lucky Seven – Chris Squire; 4.50 AM – (Gone Fishing) – Roger Waters; Redemption – Airbag; Of A Lifetime – Crippled Black Phoenix; Shouting at The Rain – The Dear Hunter; Cygnet Committee – David Bowie; Who’s Sorry Now – Todd Rundgren; Kingdom of Loss – Pain of Salvation; Wind at My Back – Spocks Beard; The Conclusion (of Sola Scripture) – Neal Morse.
