Happy Easter Folks!

Hope you are all enjoying the warm weather, despite everything else.

Here is the podcast of the FM Radio show, broadcast here in the UK on 103 The Eye last night.

Apologies to my good friend Tony Apps whose hopes I raise in the first couple of the minutes of the show, only to dash by not actually playing any of the songs he requested! I’ll make it up in the next show.

If anyone else has a request or dedication just email thedoorwaymusic@outlook.com or leave a message here or Facebook.

Hope you all enjoy the show.

Take care of yourselves and look after each other.

Ian

Hello everyone

Here is the podcast of last night’s show broadcast on 103 The Eye, here in the UK.

We are nearly a week into the lock down of the UK. Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this awful virus where ever in the world that may be.

I’ve kept the format of this show really simple. I’m just concentrating on playing some great music. I hope that it will keep your mind off of things for a couple of hours. it certainly helps me to have the distraction of putting the show together!

If there is something you’d like me to play, or a dedication to someone, just shout. Email me at thedoorwaymusic@outlook.com  or get in touch via my blog thedoorwaymusic.com  or The Doorway’s facebook page..

If you know someone that would enjoy listening to the show or you are listening for the first time there are 45 back episodes stored on Podbean! (Nearly 4 days of continuous prog!!)

Above all, look after yourselves and take great care of each other.

Hello everyone – I’m back!!

After taking a week off , I found myself in the position of not wanting to upload last week’s show as a podcast. It just didn’t seem the right thing to do. Given that I record these shows primarily for 103 The Eye it may be 2 weeks before it gets posted as a podcast. So much changed in that time that I felt the overall tone of the show, whilst fine for the time it was broadcast on FM, was not totally appropriate for where we find ourselves now!

Hopefully this week’s podcast will help some of you while away a couple of hours if you’re self isolating or poorly, and hopefully will assist in taking your mind off what’s going on in the world.

So this week, I’m looking at the theme of money (rather than Coronavirus!!) and I’m intoducing a new feature called Axe Victim, where I take a look at the career of a particular guitarist – this week is John Mitchell. There’s also a selection of brand new music.

Now more than ever we need to show our support for these artists by buying their material, preferaby from sources as close to the artist as possible (direct from websites, from Bandcamp or from the record label.) Its great to use streaming services like Spotify but these pay a pittance to the artist.

I really hope you enjoy the show this week.

Above all, stay safe. Follow the social distancing advice or self isolate if necessary. If we don’t this will be a disaster from which we may never recover.

Look after yourselves and take care of each other.

Ian

Hello Everyone!

Here’s the podcast of the FM Radio show first broadcast on 103 The Eye, here in the UK on Saturday evening.

I’m catching up with the recent announcements from Night of The Prog, including tracks from Colosseum and Blank Manuskript. However the really joyful discovery for me was Voyager IV,  who released their interpretation of Pictures at an Exhibition on 2 November 2019, on what would have been Keith Emerson’s 75th Birthday. Now I was weaned on the ELP album from 1971, its in my musical DNA, so buying this album was a huge leap of faith. I needn’t have worried. It’s absolutely brilliant and well worth checking out! https://voyageriv.bandcamp.com/album/pictures-at-an-exhibition

Hope you all enjoy the show!

Have a great week!

Ian

Setlist: Hide in Your Shell – Supertramp; This Air – Anathema; Grace – Jeff Buckley; Song For the Innocent – Pain of Salvation; Il Vecchio Castello – Voyager IV; Looking For Someone – Genesis; Lucky Me – Tony Banks; Here Comes The Flood – Peter Gabriel; God If I Saw Her Now – Anthony Phillips; Chamber of 32 Doors – Steve Hackett; Rope Ladder to The Moon – Colosseum; There’s a Light – Jadis; Induction – Blank Manuskript; Promenade II – Voyager IV; Trains – Porcupine Tree; This Train is My Life – Marillion; When the Trains Are Sleeping – Subsignal; Keeper of Abbeys – Big Big Train; Take Me – IO Earth

Happy Sunday All!

I hope you are all enjoying the slight change of format for the Doorway. I’m still playing the usual mix of old and new, but mixing it up across the Show rather than playing most of the old stuff at the start.

This week’s show is jam packed with proggy goodness and kicks off with a bit of a tribute to Peter Hammill; takes a look at RPWL who’ve just been announced for Night of The Prog in July; takes a trip to Lancashire and rounds off with an amazing track by IQ.

Have a great week!
