The End of The World is coming, soon…….

It was somewhat ironic this Saturday evening, but as the 11th edition of the Doorway was being broadcast on 103 The Eye I was watching Lifesigns playing live at Level III in Swindon to a less than packed house.

It was a very intimate performance and a real shame that more people weren’t there to see one of the best bands around play a fantastic set of material from both their albums (Lifesigns and Cardington) as well as a bonus track from John Young’s brief spell with the supergroup, Quango.

All thanks to the band for a fantastic gig and particular thanks to John Young for allowing me a little publicity for my show. I’ll be finishing next week’s show with their epic song ‘At The End of The World’ which seems somewhat appropriate given Sir David Attenborough’s speech today at the Climate Conference in Poland!

Enjoy this weeks podcast (while you can!)

Have a great week.

The DOORWAY 24/11/2018

It’s hard to believe that I’m just putting the 11th show together (in between frequent power outages!) I truly hope you are enjoying my shows and they are helping to open doors of musical discovery for you.

My main objective in putting this show together is to play music on the radio that wouldn’t otherwise get to be heard by anyone other than the fans of the band. Its been great to get such a positive reaction from everyone, particularly the bands that have got in touch.

Its now time to widen the scope of this project and see if I can get more Radio stations to take the show. I will be eternally grateful to 103 The Eye for giving me the opportunity to get this project off the ground and my show will always be available to them.

Please spread the word about the Doorway to as many people as possible, especially on Facebook!

I’m really keen to hear from bands particularly as there is a mutual interest in getting my show as wildly listened to as possible. (By way of reassurance, I’m not doing this for freebies – in fact that’s the last thing on my mind as I’m aware how hard it is to make ends meet in this business. I intend to purchase my own music and gig tickets!)

I really hope you enjoy this week’s show. Its got a special feature on the UK as well as the usual mix of classic tracks from the 1970’s right through to the latest releases.

With all the talk this week about Brexit, I’m going to put together a UK Special in a couple of weeks to really showcase the fabulous range of music produced here in the UK. If there is a band you think I should be featuring, let me know.

I was lucky enough to get to see Focus last Friday at Lowdham Village Hall, here in Nottinghamshire. They really are one of the best bands I have ever seen live and Menno Gootjes is just an awesome guitarist.

This week I’m off to see Lifesigns in Swindon and I’m hoping that I can get John Young to wear one of my newly designed Doorwaymusic.com T Shirts!

28th October 2018

Thanks to everyone who got in touch this week  – I really appreciate the comments and suggestions!

This week’s podcast has the usual mix of old and new tracks; a  sidelong look at Steven Wilson’s career and ends with a complete belter of a track from IQ as we approach Halloween.

Next week’s show will look in more detail at the the prog scene in Germany; will introduce you the debut album from, UK band The Paradox Twin and play a track from the Gentle Knife that I guarantee will put a big smile on your face. All that and the usual mix of classic, prog old and new.

Hope you enjoy the music. Have a great week!
