Hello everyone

Firstly apologies for the missing show last week. Technical issues meant that the Show was not broadcast on 103 The Eye nor uploaded as the usual podcast. These things happen, I’m afraid.

So, here is Saturday’s show that was broadcast as usual. I hope you all enjoy the selection of great tracks.

I’ve almost finished this coming Saturday’s show as well. Its a Cruise to the Edge special, featuring many of the bands I saw whilst in the States.

Please let me know if there’s something you’d like me to consider playing on future editions of The Doorway. I’m not short of inspiration or ideas but do try to accomodate any reasonable request for music, accompanied by a shout out on the show.

I’d like to thank all the artists that recorded idents for the show whilst we were all on the boat. I think it made a change from the usual selfie request and many of the contributors seemed surprised that there was a specialist prog radio show in the UK (as opposed to just a podcast!) You’ll hear many of them next week!

have a great week

Ian

Here is a slightly shortened podcast of Saturday’s Doorway, originally broadcast on 103 The Eye here in the UK. I’ve had a few technical issues resulting in the loss of part of the original show recording so we’re down to 1.5 hours this week! I promise I’ll make it up to you! If you’re quick you can catch the repeat of the whole show on 103 The Eye at midnight tonight!

Hello everyone.

There’s a distinctly “Canterbury”  feel to this week’s show. I hope you enjoy the slight change of direction. It’s all progressive Rock after all and needs to be heard on the show.

I am also gearing up to Cruise to the Edge during the 1st week in February! There will be lots of updates on the Blog whilst I’m away.

Let me know if there is something you would like me to play in future shows on 103 The Eye. The show goes out on Saturdays at 21.00 GMT and is repeated at Midnight on Tuesdays. By my reckoning that’s Drivetime in the States! What better way to enjoy the journey home!

Hello All

Here’s Saturday’s Show. A little later than normal but hopefully worth the wait!

I’m getting ready to go to Cruise to The Edge in the first week of February so the show will increasingly feature acts that are performing at this event.

This week’s show includes a stunning track by Karmakanic (dedicated to my keyboard playing youngest Son, Matt!) and ends with 22 minutes of pure bliss……

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the first edition of 2019. I’m back with a vengance after a break over the Christmas Holidays.

This week’s show is bookended by two fabulous tracks from the 70’s. In between these is the usual mixture of old and new, including a tribute to David Bowie to mark the Anniversary of his death on 10th January along with a 30 minute special feature on the career of Todd Rundgren.

I hope you all enjoy the Show!

Welcome to my Christmas Special edition of the Radio Show . The show is broadcast on 103 The Eye every Saturday evening at 21.00 GMT and again at Midnight on Tuesday.

Thanks to Chris Tait who told me about the Frank Zappa animation for City of Tiny Lights on You Tube. Here is the link to that https://youtu.be/8ZRNPUmwAOY.

Hope you all enjoy the show. Have a Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

The Doorway UK Special

Here is the podcast from Saturday’s Radio broadcast on 103 The Eye in the UK.  This week’s show takes a sidelong look at the UK and features artists and bands that are either currently on tour or have released feash material in the last couple of years. Just because it’s concentrating on contempoary artists doesn’t mean there aren’t some classic names from the past. You can expect to hear the likes of Steve Hackett, Roger Waters and Camel along side new artists like Tiger Moth Tales and The Paradox Twin, and all points in between!

I’d like to correct an error in the podcast as well. Lifesigns are on tour in the UK in March 2019, not May as I said in the show! D’oh.

Since you’ve all been such good boys and girls as well I’m putting some extra special Christmas treats in next week’s show!

Have a great week!!

Here is the link to Saturday’s show. I’m in the process of making the show available on You Tube to make it a bit easier to listen to. Thanks to John Young from Lifesigns who allowed me to give the show a bit of publicity at their Swindon Gig!

Next week is a UK Special, showcasing the fantastic depth of music being made here. From Steve Hackett, Tiger Moth Tales, Lifesigns, Anathema…. they are all featured!

I may even play a Christmas Song the week after. Any suggestions??

The End of The World coming soon……………………………………….

It was somewhat ironic this Saturday evening, but as the 11th edition of the Doorway was being broadcast on 103 The Eye I was watching Lifesigns playing live at Level III in Swindon to a less than packed house.

It was a very intimate performance and a real shame that more people weren’t there to see one of the best bands around play a fantastic set of material from both their albums (Lifesigns and Cardington) as well as a bonus track from John Young’s brief spell with the supergroup, Quango.

All thanks to the band for a fantastic gig and particular thanks to John Young for allowing me a little publicity for my show. I’ll be finishing my show next week with their epic song ‘At The End of The World’ which seems somewhat appropriate given Sir David Attenborough’s speech today at the Climate Conference in Poland!

Enjoy this weeks podcast (while you can!)

Have a great week.
